Country Kitchen
Overlooking the pond, the country kitchen has a center island where visitors love to gather next to the woodstove over a cup of tea. Before they listed, the sellers freshened the kitchen by painting the walls, installing new Thermador wall ovens, and adding handsome subway tile to frame the gas range.
Dining Room
The light-filled dining room, with views of the patio and expansive lawns in the back of the property, is large enough to accommodate a hungry crowd. It's graced with a coffee bar and conveniently placed wine fridge.
First Floor Master Suite
The master suite encompasses its own wing of the Cape-style home, with a large bedroom, adjacent office or den, ample walk-in closet, and spacious bathroom with marble counters, shower, soaking tub and separate dressing area with its own sink.
The Amazing Pantry
You might not think a simple pantry would create a "wow" factor, but it did. When the sellers decided to paint these wooden shelves white, it changed everything. They color-coded their dry goods and staged their presentation, to great effect!
The Enchanting Carriage House
The sellers had transformed an existing 3-bay barn into a beautifully finished carriage house with an upscale kitchen and posh full bath; they had used it primarily as office quarters. My stagers at Joshua Allen Design suggested painting the concrete floor dark gray, and then proceeded to reimagine the two-story space so it would appeal to buyers who might want to use it for overnight guests, work, yoga, or casual entertaining. Everyone who visited said they'd have been happy to live there!
The Magical Pond
One of the property's most mesmerizing features is its spring-fed pond, alive with fish, frogs, toads, turtles and water creatures. It's a haven for visiting birds, and its peaceful allure was enhanced by the sellers' creation of a 60-foot-long waterfall, fed by 10,000 gallons of water pumped up from the pond each hour, and then allowed to gently dance down through rocky crevices back to the pond. The water's journey embued the grounds with the soothing sounds of a rather loud but comforting babbling brook. It was a place you never wanted to leave.
The Sale
Four Oak Farm was listed in mid-May, 2021, on the day its florid pink rhododendrons decided to bloom. Perfect timing.
The gorgeous images of the farm captured by Nashua Video Tours' Fred Light created an instant sensation. I conducted personal tours for a bevy of buyers over several days, resulting in multiple offers. This once-in-a-lifetime estate sold at the end of July, 2021 for $1,601,500.
