Princeton's Holiday Home Tour

If you love exploring treasured historic homes, you'll have an opportunity to do that on Saturday, December 9th in Princeton while you support a great cause.

The 5-home tour is sponsored by Princeton's Hearts for Heat, a volunteer-run nonprofit whose mission is to offer critical assistance in paying for winter heating oil to local residents who may not be able to get through the long heating season without some financial help.

The following homes will be welcoming visitors between 10-4 on Saturday:

* Federal Style Brick House
The Joel Howe House was built in 1823 and once housed a blacksmith shop in the barn.

* Bungalow Style
The David Franklin Smith House was built in 1874. Exceptional features are a curved interior wall and live-in, wrap-around porch.

* Brick Colonial
The Nehemiah Parker House was built in 1794 with bricks hauled from Clinton by horse and wagon. Lovingly restored and updated with modern conveniences. 

* Boylston Villa
This villa was built in 1818 by Thomas Boylston of Boston, a cousin of John Adams. It is reputed to have been designed by the same architect as the Boston State House - Charles Bulfinch. 

Farm House
This 1750's home was built by Robert Keyes - one of the earliest built in Princeton. A chestnut post and beam structure that boasts 5 fireplaces.

Tickets for the tour may be purchased online in advance for $27 or at the Mountainside Market, The Thirsty Lab, or at Hunt and Gather.   On the day of the tour, you can buy them @ $30 at the First Congregational Church, on Princeton's Common.
